Woolly Jumpers for Julip Riders.

This is a pattern for a simple jumper for new style Julip riders.

You need; Size 12 needles, 2 ply wool. (One hank of tapestry wool is plenty) velcro or press studs, wool needle, sewing needle, thread

˙Cast on 14 stitches.

˙Knit 2 rows

˙Work 12 rows in stocking stitch (Knit one row, purl the next)

˙Cast on 10 stitches at the beginning of the next two rows (34 stitches altogether)

˙Work 4 rows of stocking stitch

˙Knit 13 turn the work.

˙Work 3 rows of stocking stitch on these 17 stitches.

˙Cast off 10

˙Work 12 rows of stocking stitch on remaining 7 stitches.

˙Knit 2 rows

˙Cast off.

˙Rejoin wool to stitches on needle.

˙Work 3 rows stocking stitch.

˙Cast off 10 stitches.

˙Work 12 rows stocking stitch on the remaining 7 stitches.

˙Knit 2 rows

˙Cast off.

To make up, on wrong side sew seam from

wrist to waist on both sides. turn right

side out. Add snap fasteners or velcro

to the back opening.These jumpers

can be made in plain colours ,stripes or

any design to match your stable

livery or cross country kit.
